Wayne Thiebaud/ Song Dynasty Drawing
This is my emulation project result. Its a quail perched on a branch like in the song dynasty ink drawings I looked at and its done in bright color with thick pronounced strokes like Wanye Thiebaud's drawings. The two artists didn't mix well. I was happy with the quail-ness of it but the way I applied color just didn't work. I was a little disappointed with the results. I was rushed as always and I think I will spend more time on the body of this quail, adding more detail.
Many things were said in critique like the chosen frame that I captured the quail in looks like a stock photo or that there should be a different background cause plain white wasn't working so on. This is another example of the bad mix of artists that I chose. What was working for one artist's style was not working for the other's. If I could do this project I would probably work longer 18 hours was just not long enough and I would definitely choose just ONE artist.

2nd drawing "framed"

My words are religion and assumption and my material is china marker.
The leopard and the kid are a reference to a Bible passage. These two drawings are about 8.5 by 11 in. I made them small because I haven't done something that small before in color and I'm trying new things in this class. I also tried not to blend so much I usually blend everything.
(It took a long time to get these up. I don't know why the picture wouldn't load. I had to keep resizing smaller so hopefully it isn't too small for you to see detail)

LutherChristChurchoftheRedeemer

This is the little icon I made for a church in Mpls. The congregation has a growing number of members from Togo. They also recently erected a new bell tower.
I'm thinking that the whole thing is a little unbalanced. I've had nothing but positive feedback so at least people like it but I don't think I am satisfied...

If you didn't know...
Mmmmm ENFJ
These are the main bullet points about my personality type:
Good verbal communication skills
Very perceptive about people's thoughts and motives
Motivational, inspirational; bring out the best in others
Warmly affectionate and affirming
Fun to be with - lively sense of humor, dramatic, energetic, optimistic
Good money skills
Able to "move on" after a love relationship has failed (although they blame themselves)
Loyal and committed - they want lifelong relationships
Strive for "win-win" situations
Driven to meet other's needs
Tendency to be smothering and over-protective
Tendency to be controling and/or manipulative
Don't pay enough attention to their own needs
Tend to be critical of opinions and attitudes which don't match their own
Sometimes unaware of social appropriateness or protocol
Extremely sensitive to conflict, with a tendency to sweep things under the rug as an avoidance tactic
Tendency to blame themselves when things go wrong, and not give themselves credit when things go right
Their sharply defined value systems make them unbending in some areas
The weird thing is that I think most of these are true. Like with everyone there are days I'm not feeling so very "warm" but for the most part they are right. The only thing that doesn't click is the "Sometimes unaware of social appropriateness or protocol" most of the time I am very aware and simply choose not to follow "protocol" out of sheer stubbornness.
My strengths of my personality type help with subjects for my drawings in the way that I can figure out pretty easily what most people will like to see. Whether or not I actually draw that is something completely different. Sometimes I get so distracted helping other people do things I lose time to do things for myself, I get so caught up and then I have to rush and my work often suffers. I need to stay aware of that need to help people before I help myself, my work should come first in most instances.
My personality type thinks about other people first so my subject matter most likely will not purposely offend people or make them upset. I would avoid that at almost all costs.
In the critique setting ENFJ's can sense what people are feeling most of the time. I could say something and based off the response of someone I can adjust how I am saying something so I can get my point across without doing unnecessary harm. ENFJ's can get people engaged in things, they can be inspirational, and maybe I could get the class excited or engaged in critique when they aren't really feeling it. My weakness could come from wanting to tell people what they want to hear. I tend to want to give people what they want and thats probably not what they need from a critique situation.
